Remember back in the May

How is this even right?  It is Friday night and I am a home with the Bug while Heidi is out at a football game.  Go ahead and tell me that having a kiddo does not complete change your life.  We are living in Bizzaro World.
The good thing is that Buggy is asleep and I can make an attempt to get caught up on our blog.  All of our pictures are on Facebook so these next couple of posts are going to be videos.
This is May when Buggy is just learning how to "talk"  and she telling Mr. Turtle all about her day.

We are still here!!!

Fast forward 4 months and you will see what we got. Maddie turned 4 months yesterday and got introduced to rice cereal. We tried to video it but she took it pretty well so there was not much humor in posting a baby eating cereal. Everyone is back at work at Maddie is at Giant Steps home daycare. We have a ton more pictures on facebook and in our emails. We mean well to get them posted but so far this is as good as it is going to get.

This is a start...hopefully we will do a better job of updating.

Life Between the Feedings

If life were a book then this would be the title of our next chapter. In the two short weeks since Maddie's arrival our lives have completely changed (I know...Captain Obvious). Maddie is feeding about every two hours during the day and about every three hours at night and our lives operate between those feeding. On the weekend that usually means sneaking in a quick nap or one of us running out for an errand. We are still working up to an outing into the public but if we did you know that we would have leave right after Heidi finished feeding and hurry back before the next feeding. We know that this will change but until then...I am tired and going to bed.

Please enjoy Maddie at one week old

We got ourselves a baby!

I am proud to announce the arrival of Madeline Grace McDow who came into this world on Wednesday October 27th at 5:55pm. She was 7lbs 13oz and 21 inches that is a big baby for my little wife.

Once again our plans and God's plan did not line up. One of these day we would like to be privy to know just a little about what he has in store for us but I think that God enjoys the surprises.
So now you know that this is going to be a fun little story. On Sunday night we went to the hospital so that Heidi could get Cervidil to help bring her into labor (she was on the verge of Preeclampsia and since she had made 39.5 weeks wanted to get the baby delivered). After 12 hours the Cervidil did not work so they decided to go with Pitosin for more contractions in hope of bring on labor...and 12 hours later that did not work. We got discharged for the night so that Heidi could get some rest at home and then come back Tuesday night for another round. Editors note: nobody but the McDow checked into Labor & Delivery and left without a delivery. We are the few the chosen the do-it-agains.

Tuesday night we check back into the hospital and like Emerald say we kicked it up a notch. They gave Heidi cytotec in hopes that THIS would bring on labor but after 6 hours the contractions were to strong and they decided to go back to Cervidil for another 12 hours. This brings us up to 2:00pm on Wednesday and there was still no signs of Heidi going into labor. Note:we were over this process at about 6:00 am.

At this point we had two options: one - insert some medieval torture device that the medical community kindly refers to as a Foley. (Google it) Two: we have a C-Section. Heidi, not involved with the S&M society decide to go with the C-Section. It was scheduled for 5:00pm that evening and after a couple of delays sweet Madeline arrived into our world just before 6:00. As the loving husband that I am took up an offer to watch the surgery but chose not to give Heidi the play by play. During the surgery we found out that there were two reasons that Heidi did not go into labor: One Maddie has her daddy melon head and she would not have fit through the birth canal and two the cord was wrapped around her little neck. Note: If you did not know by now God does know what he is doing.

Well that is our story and we are sticking to it.

Ladies and Gentlemen...I present to you Madeline Grace McDow

Weekend Wrap Up

I don't have any pictures so I am not sure how interesting this post will be with our pictures but basically we had a great weekend and I had a great time hanging out with family all weekend. We had a great steak dinner on Friday, baby shower on Saturday ( hosted at my favorite Mother-in-Laws house) and then we caught a show with Mom and Rachel at the Pocket Sandwich Theater. Sunday after church we came home and Heidi got a great 4 hour nap that she had been needing all week. We are 5 weeks out from getting us a baby and Maddie is growing fast and wearing out Heidi so it was good that she got to sleep and I got to watch bad Sunday movies. Maddie's room is almost ready and so are we.

It was a great weekend and pics may follow.

Labor Day trip

We took our last trip as DINKS and went down to the farm for a good weekend out of the city. We showed up Saturday afternoon and since there was such a nice breeze on the patio so we started out the trip off with a nice nap. We went to town to get some food for Sunday and pick up some more fishing lures for the sacred traditional sacrifice to the the tank god. Two 3 sacrifices lures equals 4 fish. After our afternoon fishing trip we went to Orsaks for catfish and chicken fried. Great end to a Saturday. Sunday we went to visit on one of my high school friend and her new baby then back to the farm for some more fishing. It was a great weekend and now we are back in Dallas with a full September schedule and then October is Baby Time.

As most of you know we have two dogs: an Aussie and a Rottie and Rottweilers are know for their bite strength, fierceness and aggression. We, like other Rottie owners, always think that our Rottie is different and not like other dogs. Well this weekend our Dixie the great Rottweiler - bread to be a hearder, guard dog, and force to be reckoned with showed us who she truly is.

Please be advised these video can be very unsettling
